Police in North Wales caught speeding
Nineteen police officers were caught speeding without good reason while on duty last year, a Freedom of Information inquiry has revealed.Nine were given fixed penalties of a £60 fine and three points, five were allowed to take speed awareness courses as an alternative to points, and another five are still being assessed.
The 19 were all caught when not responding to emergencies.
A total of 61,314 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit in North Wales last year. In a Freedom of Information reply the force makes clear that officers who speed without good reason would be dealt with like anyone else.
Last week chief constable Richard Brunstrom was attacked by politicians after the Daily Post published the first pictures proving that police were hiding speed cameras in horseboxes.
