Questions over the legality of Skye Bridge tolls

Skye bridge campaigner, Robbie the Pict has obtained evidence through an FOI request that there was no lawful tolling regime in the original permit to operate the Skye Bridge. The permit was presented to the bridge's private developer by the government in 1995.

Robbie the Pict, a leading campaigner who is trying to get the criminal convictions of those who refused to pay the tolls overturned, said: "Basic logic dictates that if the law requires a licence to charge tolls and no licence exists, surely the tolls must be illegal."
