Charles Falconer and the NUM

Information has emerged about the Lord Chancellor, Charles Falconer, and his involvement in the Miners' strike 20 years ago, when he assisted in the breakup of the National Union of Mineworkers. Documents released under FOI have revealed that as an established barrister with over 20 years service at Fountain Court chambers in London, Falconer's clients included British Nuclear Fuels, for whom he fought a series of cases against leukaemia patients and Greenpeace activists, and the National Coal Board.

Secret papers reveal Falconer role in breaking up NUM (The Guardian, 16 May 2005)
