UK Information Commissioner: Sleep-walking into a Surveillance Society


The UK Information Commissioner, Richard Thomas, has issued a statement highlighting his concerns surrounding the government's proposals for identity cards:

The Commissioner's main concerns appear to centre around the proposed National Identity Register - the amount of information held within it, how it will be administered, who may have access to it, and the purposes for which it can be used now and in the future.
