DCA deletes guidance to reject confidentiality agreements

The Guardian reports that arms manufacturers and other companies are planning to bypass the UK Freedom of Information Act by introducing legally enforceable confidentiality agreements into their dealings with Whitehall. These firms are also said to be preparing "injunction packages" with which to threaten officials.

"This will have the effect of bypassing the legislative machinery, and knocking a large hole in the act."

The DCA also appears to have backtracked on advice urging against the use of confidentiality agreements that it had previously planned to issue to civil servants.
