15 year old pupil charged over drug offences at Edinburgh school

A 15-year-old school boy has been charged with drug dealing after allegedly selling cannabis to classmates at an Edinburgh secondary school.

The teenager is thought to have smuggled the drugs into school in his shoe and then attempted to pass them on to other children. The police refused to name the school involved on the grounds that it may lead to the identification of the 15-year-old.

The boy was charged with four drug offences - possession of an illegal drug, supplying a controlled drug and two counts of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug - following the incident in June last year. Details of the incident were revealed following a request under the Freedom Of Information Act by the Evening News.

In a different incident, two teenagers were withdrawn from the £7500-a-year George Watson's College after drug dealing was discovered on the campus at the start of last year.
