Chief Constable splashes out on £28,400 bathroom

A report produced by North Yorkshire Police Authority has concluded that the £28,400 refurbishment of Chief Constable Della Cannings's bathroom "suffered from a lack of all reasonably expected 'commonsense' control".

Senior North Yorkshire MP Phil Willis criticised the lack of financial control shown by both the police authority, which sets the budget, and North Yorkshire Police.

The excessive cost of the new shower facilities only became apparent following a Freedom of Information request by the Yorkshire Post.
