UK FOI Act extended to cover the Public Oversight Board and the Financial Reporting Council

The government was defeated when the Lords backed - by 12 votes - a Tory move to extend Freedom of Information Act provisions to cover two company watchdogs. Voting was 116 to 104 during debate on Commons changes to the companies bill.

The amendment, supported by Liberal Democrats, would extend the provisions to the Public Oversight Board and the Financial Reporting Council. The bill joins the queue of measures returning to the Commons in the last week of the parliamentary session.
