Government clearing house refuses to release information

A Whitehall department set up by the government to handle sensitive and difficult requests under the Freedom of Information Act has been found to be in breach of the legislation, according to a parliamentary committee.

The "clearing house" set up by the Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer of Thoroton, shortly before the legislation came into force has refused to release information about its activities.
