Care home meal budgets revealed under FOI

A Cupar care home which spends just 63p per meal has been defended by Fife Council.
It was revealed that Northeden House spends the small amount after the SNP requested details on care home meal budgets across Scotland under Freedom of Information rules.

The amount spent at the Cupar home is one of the smallest in Scotland, while across Fife Council's 10 care homes, the average spent per person is only £2.14 a day for three meals. But Kenny Leinster, senior manager for the social work service, insists the meals provided are healthy and money is saved by using freshly-prepared food.
