Hospital car parks make millions

In a national survey of top earning hospital car parks the Luton & Dunstable Hospital came 16th. But L&D bosses defended the £861,000 they made last year from patients, staff and visitors parking their vehicles in the hospital grounds and said the money was not profit.

The list of top 20 money-making hospital car parks was released last week under the Freedom Of Information Act, with 14 earning more than £1 million. University Hospital Birmingham headed the table with earnings of £1,500,000.
