Crown Prosecution Service issues performance statistics

The Crown Prosecution Service has issued performance statistics for its 42 area offices in response to the publication of the first, unofficial, league table in The Times.

The CPS survey results echoed those produced from data obtained by The Times under the Freedom of Information Act. Ken Macdonald, the Director of Public Prosecutions, defended the record of his service but announced that he was in favour of league tables and said that he was “committed to running an open and accountable public prosecuting authority”.
