McLetchie admits taxi rides to law firm after Information Commissioner's ruling

David McLetchie, leader of the Scottish Conservatives, has finally admitted claiming expenses for taxi journeys to his former law firm, Tods Murray, in Queen Street, Edinburgh

He claimed around £900 for journeys to the offices of Tods Murray and BBC Scotland's Edinburgh Queen Street office between 1999 and 2004.

Mr McLetchie only confirmed the payments after the Scottish Information Commissioner ruled that the taxi claims should be disclosed: Decision 033/2005 – Paul Hutcheon, The Sunday Herald and the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body.

The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body had refused to publish the destinations of Mr McLetchie's taxi fares, arguing that to provide the addresses could compromise his safety and security. This was rejected by Scottish Information Commissioner, who ordered disclosure.
